1917 : became secretary of gujarat sabha
1918 : led his first satyagraha in kheda against govt collection of revenue
1920 : elected president of newly formed gujarat pradesh congress committee
1928 : led land owners of bardoli in their resistance against increased taxes
{ His efficient leadership in bardoli satyagraha gave him the title of sardar }
1936 : he opposed nehru’s declaration of adoption of socialism at congress session.
{He believe it diversion in the goal of achieving independence}
SARDAR PATEL : THE UNIFIER
Sardar patel being home minister called ruler to show their patriotic spirit. Patel asked princely states to merge with independent India, and behave responsibly.
Dream of separate state is impossible, joining India was the best option.
The instrument of accession :
States having internal autonomy under British rule ceded just three subjects:
- Only defence, external affairs, communication ceded to govt of India.
- Rulers of state, which were in effect estate or talukas, sign different instrument. (Such states vested all residuary powers and jurisdiction in GOI).
- Rulers that have intermediate status signed third type of instrument. (Such state preserve the degree of power they had under British).

A 182m iconic statue is almost twice the height of world’s famous statue of liberty in NY.
It is built on Narmada river. And it can handel earthquake upto 6.5 as per richter scale.
The visit fare is of ₹450 in which they provide bus facility to take you to the statue. There is food court available with great maintenance. You would definitely love the ambience. As we enter into the statue there is a gallery where you can know about his life.
Their management can be said good because they give entry to very limited people at a time. You would probably hate waiting in long line. But till then you can check out the galary, Visit the food court.
A major attraction
The light and sound show has received rave reviews since its debut on October 31. Every evening, it attracts thousands of spectators eager to be enthralled by dynamic visuals and colorful lasers as the life and times of Sardar Patel is retold on the statue’s façade. The show is now among the major attractions at the Statue of Unity.
